Southway Housing Trust is pleased to share plans for new, much needed affordable homes for people with specialist needs in Gorton, East Manchester.

The plans include three separate housing schemes: one for people aged 55+ with extra care needs and dementia (site at Mount Road), and two designed to support autistic adults (sites at Manby Road and Melland Road).

A public exhibition, which will be open to everyone, is being held from 3-7pm on Wednesday 18th March 2026 at Belle Vue Leisure Centre, Kirkmanshulme Lane, Manchester, M12 4TF.

This website presents details of the proposed developments and provides you with the opportunity to make comments on the schemes. Your comments and suggestions will help influence and shape the emerging proposals.

Once the consultation has concluded, the comments will be reviewed and amendments incorporated into the designs where possible. Following that, three full planning applications relating to the respective proposals will be submitted to Manchester City Council. You will have another opportunity during the application processes to provide comments, and details of the applications will be shared on this website once they are submitted.
